About Inzozi
Inzozi means dreams—and at Inzozi Learning Center, we believe every dream deserves the chance to grow.
Nestled in the heart of Gashora, a rural community just south of Kigali and near the Burundi border, Inzozi Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit standing as a beacon of hope and opportunity. Though the land is surrounded by the serene beauty of eight small lakes, including the shared waters of Lake Rweru, it also carries the deep scars of Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, which claimed more than 40,000 lives in this region alone. The aftermath left behind generations of widows, orphans, and families struggling to rebuild.
Today, 98% of families in Gashora rely on agriculture for survival, with 70% supplementing their income through small-scale livestock farming. But with limited land and growing pressure on resources, many remain trapped in a cycle of poverty—65% of residents live below the poverty line, with few pathways to sustainable income or education.
We believe that education is the key to breaking that cycle.
At Inzozi Learning Center, we are working to empower the Gashora community through free, inclusive, and lifelong learning opportunities. Our mission is to foster literacy, spark curiosity, and inspire innovation among children, youth, and adults alike. Whether it’s helping students with homework, running fun and hands-on science experiments on Saturdays, or offering adult literacy classes to parents and grandparents—we’re here to build a community where learning never stops.

Dream With US
We offer different activities for different age ranges in program sessions of 10 classes. We then offer the class again for another group of kids or increase the rigor level for another programming cycle. Below are just a few of our activities.
Dream Big Library
Our literacy center offers engaging reading sessions for children and adults, promoting a love for books and fostering essential literacy skills. Through storytelling, group discussions, and interactive activities, we encourage participants to explore the world of literature and develop a lifelong passion for reading.
100 Pages of Homework Party
Our team of dedicated volunteers provides support for students of all ages, helping them tackle challenging subjects, complete assignments, and develop effective study habits. By offering personalized guidance and encouragement, we aim to empower learners to excel academically and build confidence in their abilities.
Agronomists of Tomorrow
Our team of dedicated volunteers provides support for students of all ages, helping them tackle challenging subjects, complete assignments, and develop effective study habits. By offering personalized guidance and encouragement, we aim to empower learners to excel academically and build confidence in their abilities.
STEM Conquerors
We believe in nurturing curiosity and a love for learning through hands-on experiences. Our STEM program offers hands on projects encouraging participants to discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Students are introduced to activities in this 10 week program through having to build, create, or imagine a solution to a presented problem.
Specialized Programs
Just like any community center iniative, we have different programs that will allow a child to explore and discover new talents. Chess Club, Craft Crew, Traditional Dance, Math Mania are just a few of these examples. We allow community input to help drive what we offer as well as provide different options during our learning quarters.
Read to Me Series
This is a favorite from our volunteers! Many of our helpers love to come out and read a story to our kids…and they love it too! With help from one of our translators we create a dual language literacy moment where we can enjoy the power of books together. We also will do a comprehension activity to help students connect with the book and make reading an adventure!
Empowering Our Dreams
We operate 100% on donations. From our first small idea of providing books to kids, to a year later, renovating a compound to work solely for our learning center, everything we have accomplished comes from the pockets of people who care.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible. And every gift counts in a major way.
